You can always count on me...

...and I can count on you. Good times bad times in between your friends will see you through...

Which friends? The BSC of course!! The Library Ladies and I are pretty ridic and spent yesterday determining which officer we would be. I got to be prez by default because my name is Kristie. Anyway, why am I telling you this? Mainly because this led to a whole bunch of adult takes on the infamous permanent 8th graders.
  1. You may have already seen the BSC Headquarters as it has had it's heyday and became defunct while ago, but the archive is worth perusing. It was run by some chick named Tiff that goes through the books and rereads them as an adult and then reviews them with insane amounts of snark. Very enjoyable. Here is a sample.
  2. Trying to defend Mary Anne to my friend Cara yesterday (who was hating on her for being a good two shoes) I summed up #60 Mary Anne's Makeover by stating the following:
Ummm helLO!!? Didn't you ever read Mary Anne's Makeover? When she gets an edgey new haircut and cool clothes and the BSC shuns her for being "too cool for school" and Logan is all like OMG BONERZ!
  3. Lastly, Danielle sent me this link via email today and there is only one word to describe this take on the BSC: McSweeny's.

"Mallory and the Trouble With Unaccepted Transfer Credits"

See, even colleges don't like Mallory. What, did the Junior members have to go to Junior college?

I think I need to start re-reading BSC. I have them all in my attic, so why not?

I just went through all the old books my mom saved for me and there was only TWO BSC books. I'm thinking here, you saved pretty much every book I NEVER TOUCHED as a child and got rid of the things that I made my stepmom buy me every single weekend?! Srsly?! FORTUNATELY, I personally kept all my favorites (Claudia and the Sad Goodbye, MA's Makeover and so on). Actually, I don't think it was all my favorites but at least I have MA's MO. That's all I really need. Oh and the other one I mentioned because it helped me through my grandmother's death.

HAhahah junior college. Oh Mallory, you should have been the BSC's inside look at dealing with the death of a friend.

Yeah, that series was pretty much my childhood. I recall not participating in recess some days so I could finish the latest BSC. You should be careful, Amy. It starts out by missing four squares just to finish the last few chapters. Then it develops to losing sleep to finish a Harry Potter book in 24 hours. Eventually you find yourself ignoring homework to read Animorphs and A Series of Unfortunate Events and next thing you know, you're a librarian hustling books and pawning off new titles on teens to get addicted to. It's a slippery slope.
